SPECIFICATION FOR THE APPLICATION OF
Protection of _________________ and raising of fire resistance category to class R/RE/REI .
The application schedule involves the following phases:
1) Preparation of surfaces
Check that the material to be protected is free of oily substances, grease, release agents etc., which must be removed beforehand, and that the substrate is not already painted. Existing paint coats must be removed by sandblasting.
2) Primer coat
Application of our product PRIMER STARPLAST in the quantity of 150 g/m2 in order to improve the adhesion of the following coats of FIREBLOCK® 2006/P.
3) FIREBLOCK® 2006/P
Application of FIREBLOCK® 2006/P intumescent varnish in the quantity (g/m2) to be established in accordance with the structural characteristics and loading situations of the elements to be protected and also in relation to the required degree of fire-resistance.
The film thickness of FIREBLOCK® 2006/P to apply is established on the basis of tabular or analytical assessment and determined by the reference engineering office.
The FIREBLOCK® 2006/P can be applied by brush or roller in the amount of 500 g/m2 per coat, or by spraying in the amount of 700 g/m2 per coat (dispositive airless without filter with nozzle from 31).
4) Finish
When the FIREBLOCK® 2006/P varnish film is fully dry, in the presence of wet places, the surface finish is completed if necessary by applying our chlorinated rubber based STARGUM COLOR (pigmented) top coat, designed to impart anti-weathering and water-resistant properties to the intumescent protection. The recommended quantity of STARGUM COLOR is 0.13 I/m2 (150 g/m2), equivalent to a dry film thickness of approximately 50/60 µm.
The cost of the primer treatment, intumescent coat, and top coat, if required, is € ________ /m2, excluding the cost of application, scaffolding, sandblasting or other substrate preparation work.
The consumption for coat and the number of coats depend on the application system adopted and the type of structure to be treated. The painter is advised to check consumption personally and to keep strictly to the prescriptions of our engineering office.
Starkem will supply:
a) certificate issued by Giordano Institute in Bellaria (RN) with file number 217931/2891FR, dated 31/10/2006
b) declaration of conformity of the product supplied
c) additional note prepared by the reference engineering office testifying to the fact that the applied film thickness of FIREBLOCK® 2006/P is such as to impart the required R/RE/REI 90/120/180 fire resistance to the structure.
d) fire resistance certificate of load-bearing and/or separating construction components prepared by the above-mentioned engineering office as per annex II of Italian Ministerial Decree 4 May 1998, point 1.1, letter a).
The painter shall produce self-certification using the relevant Starkem form testifying to the correct application of the product as required by annex II of Italian Ministerial Decree 4 May 1998, point 1.1, letter b).
